You can renew by mail if your current U.S. Passport meets all of the following requirements:
  • Is undamaged and can be submitted with your application
  • Was issued within the last 15 years
  • Was issued when you were 16 years of age or older
  • Was issued in your current name or you can legally document your name change
If you do not meet all of the above requirements, you must apply in person to renew your U.S. Passport.
